In contrast to traditional vortex meters which measure a single process variable,
Innova-Mass measures five process variables with one integrated instruments. Using
three primary sensing elements- a vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature
sensor, and a solid state pressure transducer-Innova Mass measures the mass flow rate of
gases, liquids and steam.

VIBRATION CANCELLATION TECHNOLOGY
Historically one of the limiting factors of vortex meters is their susepibiliy to
vibration from things like pumps. Sierra has engineered a new solution to this age
old problem. The Innova-Mass uses a shedder bar to generate Von Karman vortices and
piezoelectric sensor to measure their frequency. This provides an intrinsically
linear measurement of fluid velocity over a wide range of Reynolds numbers. The
exceptional sensitivity of the piezoelectric crystal is often affected by unwanted signals
resulting from pipeline vibrations. The unique Nova-balance system minimizes the
effects of these vibrations and provides maximum accuracy and signal integrity across a
broad range of flow conditions. By placing a second piezoelectric sensor in the base of
the instrument Sierra can effectively cancel out excess pipeline vibrations.

Model 240/241 Innova-Mass Multi-Parameter
Vortex Mass Flow Meter
Sierra Instruments' new Inna-MassTM Multi-Parameter Mass Flow Meter provides a direct
reading of mass flow rate from a single entry point in the process line. The meter
measures the fluid's volumetric flow rate, temperature and pressure and calculates mass
flow rate. The device provides analog and digital outputs of five process variables- mass
flow, volumetric flow, temperature, pressure, and fluid density.
Innova-Mass utilizes three primary sensing elements to measure the mass flow rate of
gases, liquids, and steam: a vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature sensor
and a solid-state pressure transducer. The meter's
ability to sense all process variables in a single location greatly improves measurement
accuracy and eliminates the requirement for additional line penetrations.
The Innova-Mass smart electronics and built-in flow computer are accessed remotely via
RS485, or locally through six IR-buttons. The field-configurable device provides an
intuitive and easy-to-use menu for programming and diagnostics. Fluids, ranges, alarms,
outputs, totalizer and engineering units can be configured or reviewed on both the
instrument panel or from a remote location. The diagnostics module includes a fault log
and a forcing function
to test meter outputs.
Innova-Mass is available in both in-line and insertion versions. In-line meters from
one-inch to eight-inch sizes are available with flanged or wafer process connections.
Insertion meters are available with compression fittings or "hot-tap"
retractors.
Model 220/221 Innova-FloTM Smart Vortex Meter
Sierra Instruments' Innova-FloTM Vortex Flow Meter effectively eliminates the two most
common problems associated with conventional vortex flow meters: reduced
rangeability and errors caused by pipeline vibrations.
The instrument is field-configurable via six buttons activated by a magnet through the
explosion-proof enclosure. The intuitive, easy-to-use menu permits configuration of
ranges, outputs and displays. Innova-Flo is available in both in-line and insertion
versions.
