STRAHMAN SAMPLING VALVES

Special Strahman Insert Unit for drawing samples from the mix
with the Drain Valve in a closed position. By means of the Strahman Insert Unit which has
its own Strahman Sampling Valve, samples can be drawn from the mix in process. This can be
done with the Strahman Drain Valve fully closed.
Other advantages are:
1. For units requiring inert atmosphere, gas may be
bubbled thru batch using bottom tap as the inlet.
2. For difficult to drop slurries - tap can be used for
inert gas or solvent to ease the dropping operation.
3. For hydrogenation or like reactions, a perfect method
for dispersing gas in the reaction mixture.
4. For purging vessels with inert or reactive gases.
| Adapters can be used where the valve is to be installed on
a vessel which has a discharge nozzle with a flanged connection larger than the valve. The
adapter must be placed between the valve & nozzle, therefore the space required for
it, must be deducted from the piston extension. Where a sampling valve is required in the
adapter, 1%" must be allowed. |
 |
Adapters should be mode of the some material as the
valve and when required, allowance should be made for conflicting bolt circles. In
general, adapters should be two sizes apart. For instance, a 2" Drain valve cannot be
fitted to a 3" nozzle, without a special fitting. The 2" valve can be adopted to
a 4", 5" or 6" nozzle, similarly the 3" valve can be adapted to a
6" nozzle.
The adapter has a bolt circle & facing to match the
flange of the receiving nozzle. The valve is furnished with a special raised face to fit a
recess which is machined into the adapter. In this way clearance around the piston can be
kept to a minimum so as to avoid build-up of process material through the nozzle. All
dimensions, flange size of nozzle, l.D. & length of nozzle must be given.
