STRAHMAN DRAIN VALVE

The Strahman Drain Valve cannot clog up. It Is so designed that in the closed position the piston or ram extends up into the tank thus preventing any possibility of the outlet be-coming plugged.

In the open position full and unobstructed flow is assured as the piston is drawn down into the bonnet leaving a completely open passage for the material passing through. With the piston in the fully retracted position, there is no resistance to flow. For example, a ball the diameter of the piston could pass through the valve without interference.

Because the piston demands the entire internal area (less a few thousandths for clearance) closure insures a completely cleared valve ready for the next run-off.

The picture to the right shows the Strahman Drain Valve in it's fully extended position.  The drain valve is shown here as if it were being used on the bottom of a process tank.  The piston moving back up into the tank pushes aside any matter that might tend to create clogging. With the Strahman Ram Type Drain Valve, rodding of the tank is never necessary. strahmanext.gif (17883 bytes)
The same valve shown here in its fully retracted position allows the media in the tanks to drain out with little or no obstructions.  When the valve is closed (shown above) the media is forced back up into the tank leaving no chance for clogging or hardening in the drain cavity. strahmannonext.gif (17477 bytes)

The close tolerance between the piston and surrounding parts leaves no room for condensation to accumulate and freeze when the valve is used on low temperature work.

Looking for a way to measure level in that tank?  We have some of the most innovative level measurment devices in the industry !

THE BONNET IS FIRMLY BOLTED TO THE BODY ASSURING PERFECT PISTON ALIGNMENT AT ALL TIMES. IN THE OPEN POSITION THE PISTON IS PROTECTED BY THE BONNET.

As it has no conventional gland, there is no stuffing-box problem. The Strahman Drain Valve is kept tight by means of two resilient packing rings through which the piston moves. The lower ring prevents the flow from passing down into the bonnet, while the upper ring forms a seal as the piston enters it, thereby assuring a tight shut off. To compensate for wear when it occurs these rings may be compressed by taking up on the compression nuts. When the rings are worn beyond the compression point, they are easily replaced. The packing rings, usually of Teflon, are adaptable to most services; Asbestos rings can be substituted where conditions demand.

The Strahman Ram Type Drain Valve can be made in any cast metal to meet your requirements and in the following flanged end sizes: 1", 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", 4", and 6".

1" and 1½" valves have rising stem and handwheel with 2" standard piston extension. 2" through 6" valves have telescoping piston and non-rising handwheel with 6" standard piston extension. Piston extension length must be specified. All handwheels furnished with removable turnknobs.

They are designed for bolting to an existing flange, but in special adaptations and for lacketed vessels an adaptor pad can be furnished.
